Al Hajjar mountains and the coast

This tour provides many interesting contrasts:
We start towards the fishing town of Quriyat and visit the 400 years old Fort before heading to the fish market where a variety of fish is traded for local consumption as well as export. From here we proceed towards the coast and visit the spectacular Bimah sinkhole which is a limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom. We then start on an adventurous route cutting through the mountains. At the end of the ride, Wadi Arabayeen awaits with its deep pools of water set among the date palms. Enjoy a picnic lunch here before we drive back to Muscat.

Jebel Akhdar

We start towards Nizwa to visit the local Souq and on Friday early morning the animal market. Afterwards we drive to the pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz where you can enjoy a walk through the lush green date plantations. A 36 km stretch of winding road takes us to Jebel Akhdar on 2,000 meters above sea level. The green jewel called “green mountain” of the Al Hajjar mountain ranges is a truly unique spot in the Arabian Peninsula. Enjoy the cool climate and the view of laid out terrace style gardens which are endowed with natural springs and aflaj. We visit old villages overlooking spectacular landscape of dramatic peaks, gorges and wadis. The roses of this place fill the air with fragrance when in full bloom (March/April).
